Step 2

Hello still getting used to this blogging thing, please feel free to send this along to others. 

Step 2 this is where the work begins. Now that you have hopefully come to an understanding of what has happened and why. You are ready to move forward with your search. Now you need to formulate a game plan. What tools are you going to use? Who are you going to contact? How are you going to contact people? Where do you want to live? And so on. But most importantly you have to figure out what exactly it is you want to do. For some this maybe harder than others. 

For me this was and is very hard. I have a passion for music and would love to be a performer. However unless a huge break comes a long I need to pay the bills. I am also very interested in the advertising industry. I like both of these industries for their cultures, and most important I feel they can be a a creative outlet for me. However, I am fighting the battle of which industry to dive into. So I have been searching in both and until recently hadn't figured out how to satisfy both personalities. After meeting with quite a few people over the past month I have begun to see where I want to head. 

Now this being said you have to realize that you are deciding where you want to end up. So next you have to figure out how to get there because not everyone just gets there right away. I am looking into different opportunities that I feel will lead me in the right direction to make my two roads meet. So when figuring out what it is you want to do make sure you're looking into that industry from different angles. Be sure the culture is what you want, the time investment is what you want and what the state of the industry is (is it failing, is it growing, etc.). Most importantly just be sure to research everything you can. I have been told many times you need to know the language, company structures, etc. So that it is clear you have done your homework and want to work in that particular industry. Once you have done all this you are ready to plan your attack, on the beast/job market you are about to engage with. 

In my next post I will share my game plan and different tools I have been using. Then from there out we will walk through this together figuring out what is working and what isn't.
